Power Track Adaptor Modules Explained: Which One Do You Need?
A power track adaptor module is the removable socket that twists into the rail and takes your plug. SAGA makes five: the S 91 International Universal, the S 44 British, the S 49 German Schuko, the S 1+ Canadian NEMA and the S Ultra dual USB-C. Choose each one by the plug on the appliance it will serve, not by the country you live in.
What an adaptor module does
The track is only a powered rail. It has no sockets of its own, so nothing can be plugged in until a module is fitted. Each module carries one socket type, or a pair of USB-C ports, and connects to the conductors inside the rail when you lock it in place.
All five modules share the same round 71.5 mm face and the same twist-lock base. They fit every SAGA surface power track and every recessed power track, in 500 mm and 1000 mm lengths alike. They do not fit other brands of track.
The construction is common to the range as well: a PC+ABS enclosure rated UL 94 V-0 for flame retardance, phosphor bronze contacts and a brushed anodized aluminium bezel ring. Most modules are offered in black and silver to match the tracks, and each product page shows the finishes available.
The five modules compared
| Model | Plug standard | Rating | Notable features |
|---|---|---|---|
| S 91 International Universal | Type A, B, C and I plugs | 13 A / 3,250 W | Built-in surge protection, child-proof shutters |
| S 44 British | BS1363 3-pin (Type G) | 13 A / 3,250 W | Child-proof shutters, slim 29.6 mm profile |
| S 49 German Schuko | Schuko, CEE 7/4 (Type F) | 15 A / 3,750 W | Built-in surge protection, 38.6 mm deep (the deepest of the family) |
| S 1+ Canadian NEMA | NEMA Type A and Type B | See the product page | Twist-to-activate: powers on only when rotated into position |
| S Ultra | Dual USB-C Power Delivery | Listed as 100 W PD; USB output 5 V / 3.1 A per port | USB-C charging without a charger brick; check the output against your device |
The S 91, S 44 and S 49 are rated for 250 V AC and tested for at least 10,000 insertion cycles, and the catalogue lists IEC 60884-1, CE and RoHS for the modules. Prices for each are on the live price list.
The adaptor modules
Match the module to the plug on your appliance
Unplug the appliance and look at the pins. That is the only reliable way to choose.
- Two flat parallel pins, with or without a round earth pin (Type A or B): the S 91 or the S 1+.
- Two slim round pins (Type C): the S 91.
- Two flat angled pins, with or without an earth pin (Type I): the S 91.
- Three rectangular pins (Type G, BS1363): the S 44.
- Two round pins with earth clips on the sides of the plug (Type F, Schuko): the S 49.
- A USB-C cable: the S Ultra.
Indian round-pin plugs
Indian round-pin plugs are Type D (6 A, three round pins) and Type M (16 A, three large round pins). Never force one into a socket made for another plug type. If an appliance you plan to use has an Indian round-pin plug, contact support with a photo of the plug before you order, and we will confirm which module suits it.
How the twist-lock works
- Check the track is live. The track should be installed, energised and protected by its upstream MCB and RCCB.
- Align and push down. Line the module up with the rail using the UP arrow on the module, then push it down firmly.
- Rotate 90° clockwise. Turn the module a quarter turn clockwise until it locks. The blue LED ring lights up to confirm it has power.
- Remove it the same way in reverse. Unplug the appliance first. Rotate the module counter-clockwise and lift it straight up. Never pull a module out while it is under load.
No tools are involved, and moving a module does not need an electrician once the track itself is installed. The day-to-day routine is covered in how to use a power track socket.
Mixing modules and staying within the load
Any combination of the five can share a rail: a 500 mm track holds up to 5 modules and a 1000 mm track up to 10. A common office mix is universal modules for visitors' plugs plus an S Ultra for USB-C charging.
Two limits apply at once. Each AC module has its own rating, 13 A or 15 A, and the track as a whole is rated 32 A / 8,000 W. Three 13 A modules running at full load would already exceed the track's total, so spread heavy appliances out and check the wattage on their rating plates.
The specification lists auto-reset overload protection on the modules. If one cuts out, unplug the appliance, reduce the load, then disengage the module and re-engage it. A module that keeps cutting out is telling you the appliance belongs on a different point.
The S Ultra USB-C module
The S Ultra replaces a socket and a charger with two USB-C Power Delivery ports. Its product description states up to 100 W per port, and its specification sheet also lists a USB output of 5 V / 3.1 A per port. Check the charging wattage your laptop needs against the S Ultra product page before relying on it as your only charger, and use a USB-C cable rated for that wattage.
For phones, tablets and earbuds it removes the charger bricks from the desk. Our guide to USB-C charging points at home and office covers where to place them.
Single modules or a pack
Modules are sold singly and in sets under power track adaptors. A three-module set includes dual USB-C charging, and a six-module set matches the module count of the 1000 mm packs. For a track pack, ask us which module types are supplied before you buy if the plug type matters to you. If you do not have a track yet, the track and adaptor combos include both.

Frequently asked questions
Are power track sockets universal?
The track is universal in the sense that it accepts any SAGA module, but each module takes specific plugs. The S 91 International Universal module accepts Type A, B, C and I plugs. British Type G plugs need the S 44 and Schuko Type F plugs need the S 49. For Indian round-pin plugs, contact support before ordering to confirm which module suits them.
Which power track adaptor do I need in India?
Choose by the plug on each appliance. The S 91 accepts Type A, B, C and I plugs, the S 44 accepts British BS1363 plugs and the S 49 accepts Schuko plugs. If your appliance has an Indian round-pin Type D or Type M plug, contact support before ordering so we can confirm which module suits it.
Do all adaptor modules fit every SAGA power track?
Yes. All five modules use the same twist-lock base and 71.5 mm face, and they fit every SAGA S Series surface track and R Series recessed track in both 500 mm and 1000 mm lengths. They are made for SAGA tracks only and will not fit a track from another brand.
Can I mix different adaptor modules on one track?
Yes. You can fit any mix of S 91, S 44, S 49, S 1+ and S Ultra modules on the same rail, up to 5 on a 500 mm track and 10 on a 1000 mm track. The combined load of everything plugged in must stay within the track's 32 A / 8,000 W rating.
How do I remove a power track adaptor?
Unplug the appliance first. Rotate the module counter-clockwise and lift it straight up out of the rail. To fit it again, push it down firmly and rotate 90° clockwise until the blue LED ring lights. Never pull a module out while an appliance connected to it is running.
Can the USB-C module charge a laptop?
The S Ultra is a dual USB-C Power Delivery module described as delivering up to 100 W per port for laptops, tablets and phones. Its specification sheet also lists 5 V / 3.1 A per port, so check your laptop's charging wattage against the product page and use a USB-C cable rated for that wattage.
